Cable Fault Locating System

Telemetrics Incorporated’s van mounted Cable Fault Locating System is a basic requirement of any power distribution company. It is a very power full tools to localised the under ground cable fault of any nature in short time. The system is a mobile laboratory having all types of required equipment available to the operator at a site. This system is a total solution for fault location in any type of cables. In van system operator safety is of highest priority. Generally the van is divided in two sections, viz., the operator section and the high voltage section. HV section is equipped with proper safeguards such as door interlocks, earth monitoring system, auto discharge, and emergency off controls provided on operating control panel. These safety controls are very important in any emergency to avoid any major accident. There are two types of van systems available: 1) Software control and 2) Manual control. Software control/Menu driven van system: It is based on advance core technology with all operations such as pre-location through TDR, SIM, ICM or high voltage test are controlled through Windows 2000 or XP operation software. The drawback of this van system is the operator should know the operation of PC; and if the there was a same problem in software operation it is very difficult to operate any other equipment in the system. Manual Control Van System: It is a very simple system commonly used by electricians, and does not require any high skills. All operations such as pre-location, high voltage test, and pin-pointing are carried out by manual switch selection; if any one of the equipment goes faulty the operator has a choice to use another equipment to carried out the other fault locating test. Hence this van system is very popular and first choice of the operator. The mobile cable fault locating system may be a four wheeler vehicle or it may be a trailer system which is hooked to the any other vehicle to move at cable fault site.
