Glass Insulators

The Lviv Insulator Company produces Suspension and Pin Glass Insulators, and also group of line and fix polymeric insulators. Suspension glass high-voltage insulators are destined for insulating and fixing wires, lightning-arrester’s cables of overhead electric transmission lines, in devices of power stations and substations for high voltages of alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) with frequency up to 100 Hz, working in regions with various degrees of pollution in atmosphere and environment temperature from +50°Ñ to -60°Ñ. Pin glass insulators are destined for insulating and fixing wires on power transmission tower with voltage from 0.4 to 10 kV of alternating current with frequency up to 100 Hz and environment temperature from +50°Ñ to -60°Ñ. The insulators are made of toughened glass of high insulating ability, mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance and are capable of withstanding mechanical failing loads from 40 to 400 kN in compliance with Ukrainian and international standards requirements. For the regions with a high degree of environment pollution, the insulators are assembled with pins equipped with zinc sleeves. This sleeve prevents for a long time the pin corrosion caused by direct current and atmospheric conditions. Advantages: materials used for manufacturing of glass insulators have more stable components than those used for porcelain insulators production; electromechanical performance of hardened glass is higher than porcelain; dimensions of glass insulators are less by 20-30% with the same normative electric characteristics and weight is less at 30-40%; production of glass insulators for electric transmission lines is in accordance with the International Standards – design and technical characteristics DTSU 2203-93 (GOST 6490-93), DTSU 2202 (GOST 1232-93), IEC 60305; couplings of insulators are in accordance with GOST 27396-93, IEC 60120; tests are made accordingly to DTSU 2203-93 (GOST 6490-93), IEC 60383, IEC 60507, IEC 60575; and preservation and transportation are in according with DTSU 2203-93 (GOST 6490-93).
