Halogen-Free Flame Retardant

Avocet dye & chemical company is one of the uk’s leading manufacturers of flame retardants for the textile sector. Through a global distributor network the company generates more than 60% of its sales in Western Europe, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific region. Flame retardants represent around 50% of total sales and are marketed under the registered brand name of CETAFLAM®. The range covers application by padding, back coating and dyebath to all fibres and their blends. The products provide valuable escape time in the case of fire. Fabrics correctly treated with Cetaflam flame retardants can literally save lives. Ever increasing constraints on the usage of halogen containing flame retardants has prompted Avocet to invest heavily in R&D. The resultant use of alternative technologies has led to some ground breaking developments.

New halogen free systems to meet the most demanding flame retardant specifications: Flame retardants that can be incorporated into current processing, removing the need for additional energy consumption. Systems that meet the most stringent flame retardant standards without the need for dedicated machinery.

Currently under development is a new highly efficient halogen free product aimed primarily at polyester in the automotive sector. Avocet’s Cetaflam products are marketed in India by Croda Chemicals (India) Pvt Ltd, based in Navi Mumbai.
