UV & IR Flame Detector, IH-224

Agni Controls offers Fladet IH-224, an ultra violet and infrared combined flame detector with IP-66 protection. The detector makes use of infrared sensitive photoelectric sensor for detection of flame and ember. IR has a narrow spectral sensitivity of 3 to 5 µm, completely insensitive to visible light. The detector also makes use of ultra violet sensitive photo cathode for detection of flame. It has a narrow spectral sensitivity of 185 to 260 nm, completely insensitive to visible light. If both UV and IR sensor detect flame simultaneously, then detector will give fire indication, otherwise it gives alert indication. It can be connected to any standard fire alarm panel or to any annunciator or PLC or DCS through the potential free ‘NO/NC’ contacts provided. In-built red LED is also provided for visible indication in case of fire situation. In-built flicker green LED indicates normal condition of the flame detector. Provision is made for air purging to clean the detector eye by using instrument air at pressure of 3 to 7 bar. Applications: flame detector employs UV and IR sensors to detect fire. This combination ensures to eliminate false alarm due to various environmental influence like sunlight, lighting, welding arc, hot bodies and humidity. Applications are in indoor/outdoor areas. Advantages: rugged model suitable to use in non-hazardous outdoor application; fast response to carbon fire; easy to install and operate; high speed response; free from false alarm; visual indication for alarm/normal condition; low maintenance cost; and readily used in the environment were other type of detectors are unsuitable. Detector sensitivity: the response time of the detector is a function of the size of the fire, fuel type, and the distance from the detector to the fire. Smaller fires and greater distances normally require greater response times. UV/IR detector can detect 1 sq.ft fire at 20 metres.
