Transducers

IMP Powers offers a range of transducers. These transducers are manufactured for precision measurement and control of various electrical quantities either for local or remote metering using indicating meters, recorders, data-loggers, energy management, PLC, SCADA, central monitoring systems at generating stations, sub-stations, industries, hotels, etc. These can also be used in conjunction with supervisory control system. Transducers are of two types: a) Passive type ? these are mounted inside the meter and are self powered or mounted in a separate box when meter is too small in size. Hence calibrated with a particular dedicated instrument and are not interchangeable. These are covered under IS1248. b) Active type ? these are independent of load impedance, and also interchangeable. These require external power for their operation ? 'auxiliary supply' and commonly used are SMPS with vide working range of AC and or DC voltages. These are covered under IS: 12784 or IEC: 60688. Input voltage signal is rated at 110 V ?440 V. Similarly input current at 1 A or 5 A. Outputs signal from transducer: DC ? 0~1mA to maximum up to 20 mA or 0~1 V to 5 V. Most commonly used is 4~20 mA; 4~20~24 mA for end suppressed; bipolar output ?10 mA~0~10 mA, etc. The output can be adjustable at the field within a small span by means of a potentiometer provided on the front of housing. These transducers also provide 2 or more outputs of the same rating, one for metering, and other for PLC or the users requirement. The principle of transducers are based on sampling and power division ? true RMS type which measures the electrical parameters accurately and precisely even in absurd noisy environment and distorted waveforms up to 30% ? total harmonic distortion caused by computer SMPS, inverters, power drives for motors, etc. Transducers have fast response, high overload capacity, low-temperature drift, EMI, EMC, environmental specification as per IS/IEC. These can be mounted on a wall/DIN rail.
