New Engineering Corporation offers a modern smoke and fire detec-tor, SM -01A. This is an easy to install system that provides economical fire protection for households and business establishments, with a minimum of two detectors. 'Me detector contains 1 microcurie of Americium 241, a radioactive material, and is made in compliance with the US NRC safety criteria in 10 CFR 32.27. The purchaser is exempt from any regulatory require-ments. Features include: ionisation sensor to warn of smoke and fire even before the flames are visible; extra loud warning horn to penetrate closed doors; 9 volt battery (supplied) operation to operate even during power failure; the 9 volt battery lasts for one year under normal use; biult-in test button to check that all detectors function; and, audible beep signal to indicate battery replacement.
