Aditya Engineers has developed a photocell window type sensor to detect the smaller size parts. Counting of smaller parts before packing is difficult, time consuming and involves manual labour which is prone to erratic measurements. It will be definitely preferable if the components can be accurately counted during manufacturing itself. In this case the ejected component is necessarily made to pass through the photocell window one at a time and the window in turn produces a pulse which can be fed to the digital counter. For batching purposes the preset version of the counter can be used which can stop the press machine after the preset count and can be restarted by actuating the reset switch. Specifications: active area--width 200 mm x height 110 mm; object size--6 mm and above; output--pulse form either PNP or NPN; operating voltage--12 V/24 V DC; speed--in excess of 200 counts/minute; and, special feature--detects only moving components. This window sensor can also be used to sense the ejected components in a cyclic mode along with the press monitor to avoid double punching/breakage of tools in automatic press operation. Other version of this photocell window can also be used to sense the presence of unwanted holes before welding, in a sheet in coil form which is running at a speed of about 100 metres/minute.
