Sensor Indentifies Intruders

A new low cost, smart thermoelectric sensor for passive intrusion and position detection has been developed at the FHH. The sensor identifies the intruder and detects the angular position of motionless and moved bodies in the field of view -40 degrees to 40 degrees covered by the sensor with a position resolution of I degree. The sensor is based on the dependence of the output voltage of thermopiles on the angular position of bodies in tangential direction to the sensor. Four high-responsivity thermopiles modified by a displacement of the aperture are used. The position and the direction is determined by a microcontroller circuit and presented by an LED display.
