Quartz Sensors For Absolute Stability

In 1976, Kistler installed the world's first crash system with multicomponent quartz force sensors at MercedesBenz. The recalibration on site after over 2500 crash tests has proved once again: quartz sensors provide for stability. The sensitivity of the 32 two-component quartz force sensors has remained constant to within 0.5%, during more than 20 years. Mercedes-Benz is a pioneer not only in the field of active car safety but passive car safety as well. Despite the impressive modelling and simulation possibilities offered by today's computer systems, crash tests with vehicles are indispensable for providing absolute clarity concerning car behaviour in everyday traffic situations.
