Cavity pressure is usually measured with a sensor fitted directly in the mould cavity and in contact with the plastic melt. However, in cases where it is not possible to fit a measuring sensor--to change the mould insert without dismantling the sensor, for example, or because of dimensional reasons--there is also every justification for the location of an indirectly measuring sensor behind a measuring or ejector pin to determine cavity pressure. To complete the product family of cavity pressure sensors in this direction, Kistler offers another new indirectly measuring sensor. The Pinsens, Type 9240B is an extremely favourably priced variation. With dimensions of 1/2" x 3/8" (12.6 mm x 9.5 mm), it corresponds with the normal fitting dimensions on the market. Pinsens, which is offered together with a separable connecting cable, can be fixed in its position by the use of a socket head cap screw.
