The various types of fork sensors (slot sensors) from Shiva Electronics work on infrared (IR) principle. A typical unit consists of IR-emitter, IR-receiver and built-in circuitry with pre-wired 2-metre (as standard length) cable. The company offers these sensors with slot width of 3/20/50 mm, enclosed in ABS plastic housing or in aluminium casing. These sensors work on 10 to 24 V DC. Transistor output NPN or PNP is with driving capacity of 200 mA and is protected for short-circuit, overload and inductive load. NO and NC are user selectable. Important feature of this sensor is NO and NC operation is available in each unit for user selection – so there is no need to stock NO and NC sensors separately. These microprocessor-based sensors are precise, reliable and operate at frequency of 10 kHz.
