Electronic Safety Sensors & Solenoid Interlocks

Electronic safety sensors and solenoid interlocks are traditionally used for monitoring movable safety guards. With the AZ/AZM 200 models, Schmersal has launched an according safety switch series, which immediately stands out from other conventional devices through its appearance, which offers both optical and technical advantages. They are a dual channel design with two short-circuit proof, safe PnP outputs, each of which can switch up to 250 mA. The actuator section (plus interlocking with AZM 200) was combined with an ergonomic door handle into one easy-to-fit unit for both sliding and hinged doors. This unit fully accommodates the actuator in order to avoid damages and injuries. The essential advantage of the Schmersal high end interlocking range is the integration of a second safety sensor for door detection, which already covers the demand of a second switch for safety reasons – acc. to EN 954-1 AZ/AZM 200 can reach CC 4 as one device only (PL e acc. to EN ISO 13849-1; SIL 3 acc. to IEC 61508). Various sensors combined with complex microprocessors provide intelligent extensive diagnostic functions such as cross short recognition and wiring failures – a series wiring of multiple devices of this series is possible. Sensors permit a high offset tolerance of ±5 mm and the actuator was designed to compensate irregular sagging of the safety guard within large limits. Besides standard (solenoid) door interlocking versions, ASi-Safety at Work-models are available in different specifications.
