Digital Position Transducers, Scalable

P G Electronics offers a Digital Position Transducer, EDA-201. It is an ideal tool for position, displacement, length, quantity or dosing measurement systems. The unit has a 6-digit display that is scalable along with the desired output. Offset or negative values could also be programmed. It is offered in a standard flush housing of size 192 x 96 mm and is suitable for operation on 240 V, 50 Hz supply or alternatively 24 V DC supply. The transducer can accept signals from absolute encoder up to 24 bits in SSI format, 16 bits in parallel or even signals from incremental encoder. The unique scalable function enables to convert the encoder output resolution into any desired resolution, be it a binary number or any other integer per turn, makes it versatile. It can provide an output in 4-20 mA, binary or BCD as options. It can also give an output compatible to RS-485 interface. The scaling or programming is user friendly and does not need any arithmetic formula or constants to be introduced. One can program it on field using a hand-held remote, 4-button programming tool, which can be detached thus locking the set values.
