It is unusual to have a motor-driven application without some sort of control. Soft acceleration and soft run-down ensure a trouble-free process whilst protecting components against damage. With the help of VAREOSOFT range, torque shocks from gears, clutches or belt drives are prevented from being transmitted to connected machines. Also the motor starting current is reduced when compared with direct on-line switching and furthermore, excessive heat is not generated. This is achieved by lowering the motor-stator voltage by the means of phase-angle control using thyristors. With current-regulated units the motor current is monitored and limited to a preset value.
