In automotive manufacturing, line operators typically find and repair assembly errors in the work in process stage, minimising defects and problems that otherwise might make it to the end customer. Correct assembly is directly linked to quality and profits, with warranty, recall and rework issues adding significant costs. Solution: for this particular case, the system integrator designed and installed the PPC-105T as an error-proof detection system to monitor, display and record data in the assembly line. The Windows CE based PPC-105T allows operators to clearly view how each vehicle is assembled. During the fastening stage, data is collected and sent to the PPC-PPC-105T via Ethernet. This data is then tracked in a database and reported at the end of the line. This report quickly identifies and prevents any defects from leaving the factory until fixed. System: system structure (software): OS/Windows CE 3.0; system structure (hardware): PPC-105T is installed as an error-proof detection system to monitor, display and record data in the assembly line. Benefits: compact-sized; customized backlight dimming function and high brightness TFT LCD in PPC-105T; PPC-105T can be re-configured remotely via Ethernet; reducing maintenance costs.
