Worldwide Electricals (I) Pvt Ltd offers an automatic Variable Resistance Starter and Speed Regulator (AVRR) [ZYQT]. This is used for the soft start, speed regulation and energy-saving operation of slip ring motors with rated voltage of 415 V~15 kV.

- Initial starting current – 1st ?1.3 In (A), speed regulation rates – 2:1 for air blower fan and pump
- Recommendable range – 60%~90% Nn
- Energy saving rates – ?30% (average value) for air blower fan and pump
- Comprises of polypropylene tank, zinc copper alloy electrodes, specially patented electrolyte chemical powder, needs replacement once in 8 years, as compared to GRR where silicon graded resistor plates plus power contactors are used
- Stepless start and stepless speed regulation as compared to GRR which has 20 steps
- Only one power contactor as compared to GRR where up to 14 power contactors have to be involved to get the required resistance
- Control system is PLC as compared to GRR which uses contactors and relays
- Replacement of electrolyte once in ten years as compared to GRR where regular replacement of burned mica tubes
