Larsen & Toubro Limited has launched a new hydraulic excavator, Model L&T 180 CK, in the 35-tonne class. This is manufactured by L&T Komatsu at their ISO 9001 accredited plant, and supersedes the earlier model 170 CK. The new model has higher engine power and productivity, higher operating speed and is more fuel efficient. It is powered by a Cummins 4-cycle liquid cooled, direct injection, 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 286 HP @ 2000 RPM. The maximum torque is 1,149 Nm @ 1,500 RPM. The Varidyn hydraulic system provides optimum conversion of engine power into hydraulic power. All hydraulic cylinders of the machine are cushioned to reduce shocks. The operator cabin is spacious with an ergonomically designed seat.
