Cable Trays

Shams Electricals offers Cable Trays that are used typically as raceways for cables and wires. The system supports and protects both power and signal cables and allows cabling network to be upgraded, reconfigured and relocated. Cable trays come in several designs including ladder cable tray, solid bottom or perforated cable tray, multi compartment raceway, plain channel type trunking, etc., and available in metallic or non metallic materials. A metallic cable tray is made of GI/MS/SS sheet and/or aluminium. A non metallic cable tray is made of PVC and fibreglass. The number of cables and wires that can be installed in the cable tray varies with the type of cables. Considerations for cable trays include environmental conditions, corrosion and weight of the installed cables. A cable tray system is a unit or assembly of units or sections and associated fittings forming a rigid structural system used to securely fasten or support cables and wires. Cable trays are used to hold up and distribute cables and wires. Significance: cable trays support cables the way the roadway bridges support traffic; a bridge is the structure that provide safe passage for traffic across open span; cable tray is the bridge that allows for safe transport of wires across open spans; and therefore one should think of cable tray as the structural components of the building’s electrical system. Cable trays come in different finishes: pre-galvanised sheet; hot dip galvanised after fabrication; powder coating after fabrication; painted with red oxide; PVC coated; self colour; and finish coat of enamel paint. The choice of the materials and the types of cable trays is the matter of the physical and mechanical properties produced by each compared with the intended function of designing as well as the environment, in which the trays are to be installed.
