They are made of Polyester resin and fibreglass material. The specifications are: length - 3000 mm; width - 150 to 1000 mm; rung spacing - 300 or 500 mm; radius of bend - 300 mm; angle of bends - 45? or 90?; coupler plates - SS or FRP with SS 304/316 hardware; and loading capacity - is suitable for 30 to 120 kg/mtr linear load and 70 kg concentrated load at the centre of span with a safety factor of 2. Benefits and qualities: non conducting - eliminates risk of shock hazards in electrical application; corrosion resistance - will not rust and is immune to electrolytic corrosion and to a wide range of acids, salts and other chemicals that attack steel/metal; high strength to weight ratio over steel; UV inhibited - contains an ultraviolet inhibiting additive in resin, which provides protection against degradation due to ultraviolet radiation; flame retardant - is self extinguishing as per requirement of IS 6746-1994; light weight - extremely light weight compared to its metal counterparts and hence easy to handle at site; low thermal conductivity - will not transfer heat or cold like metal products; and cost effective - extremely long life compared to metal counterpart.
