Cable Carriers with Glide Shoes

Tsubaki Kabelschlepp has introduced Cable Carriers with Glide Shoes. Kabelschlepp´s steel chain S/SX 0650 and plastic chain Uniflex Advanced now come with glide shoes. Gliding cable carriers bridge long unsupported travels and help to shorten down times Requirements for the cable carrier systems now days are stringent, with high ambient temperatures, heavy loads, combined with the requirements for utmost reliability and short maintenance down times. Kabelschlepp offers a solution with based on glide shoes made of highly abrasion resistant plastic material. These glide shoes mean that versions in gliding arrangements are now also available for products of the Steel Line with longer travel lengths. Albeit steel chains are not known to suffer from substantial wear, the new specification glide shoes now available have some advantage for the user. They reduce friction forces, so especially in long travel applications this has a beneficial impact on the entire system design. Furthermore, they have wear indicators so maintenance can be economised. For plastic cable carriers, using glide shoes has a positive impact on service life. This allows especially cost effective solutions, since chain itself is not subject to wear; again only the glide shoes have to be replaced. Depending on the application, replacing the glide shoes costs only 10 per cent of the cost to replace the entire cable carrier. Replacement of glide shoes is fast and easy, so maintenance breaks are minimised. The use of glide shoes improves productivity. Glide shoes made of special highly abrasion resistant plastic material enable the gliding arrangement of steel cable carriers and increase the service life of plastic cable carriers.
