Dry Type (VPI) Transformers

Transtron Electricals, an ISO 9001: 2000 certified company manufactures a complete range of transformers up to 12500 kVA, 37.5 kV class. The company offers Dry Type (VPI) Transformers that are totally maintenance free and non-inflammable in the event of short circuit or electric arc. The materials used are metals, ceramics and polymers of very high grade, which are environment friendly and safe. Class “H” or class “C” insulation is used, which allow these transformers to withstand hot and humid environment and even chemically polluted atmosphere. Premium grade CRGO silicon steel with high permeability is used to construct the core. The laminated steel plates are stacked without air gaps to minimise the noise level and given a coat of protective paint to protect against corrosion. The HV and LV windings are fabricated from round wire or rectangular strip made of electrolytic grade continuous cast copper rods. The coils are thoroughly dried and baked in PLC controlled oven and class “C”/class “H”. Resin is applied to them to drive away any air pocket trapped in the windings. These coils are then cured to develop bonding at ambient temperature, and then assembled on core. After this primary and secondary connections are made. The transformers such manufactured are then put to all routine tests as per relevant IS/BIS/IEC standards at the company’s fully equipped test lab with all modern test facilities, like digital power analysers and digital winding resistance measuring instrument of high accuracy.
