Constant Voltage Transformer

Craftsmans Electric manufactures CVTs with brand name "Star CVT". These work on the saturated core transformer principle with a resonant secondary. This provides instantaneous voltage regulation with a pure sine wave output. The output is also free from surges, dips and micro interruptions, which are the major reasons for computer data error and hardware failures. Also the output is isolated from the input, thereby reducing radio frequency interference (RFI). Star CVT provides protection against power supply disturbances, acts as a stabiliser, spike suppressor, line filter, and isolation transformer, all combined in a single, compact unit. It is 100 times faster than servo stabiliser and can work at very low voltages on partial load. Since no moving parts or semiconductors are used, electrical noise is reduced. CVTs are often used to supplement the action of off-line or line-interactive UPS in installations where the power fluctuations are wide, combined with noise and surges. Brief specifications: input voltage - 170-270 V (50 Hz); output voltage - 220/230 V ?2%; correction time - less than 40 milliseconds; output wave form - sine wave, THD less than 5%; efficiency - better than 80% at rated load; and construction - ferro resonant constant voltage transformer. Models ranges from 150 VA to 10 kVA in single phase, 220 V. 110 and 415 V models are also available on request.
