Levcon Controls offers Globe type (GFS Series)/Vane operated (VFS Series) Flow Switches that are used for liquid flow signalisations at preset flow values in horizontal pipelines. Features: suitable for clear horizontal liquid flow; switch box weatherproof and/or flameproof; magnetically operated switch – glandless; switch – 1 or 2 SPDT microswitch/mercury switch (hermetically sealed); globe type –different disc assemblies for different activating flow values; vane operated – vane size depending on flow range; set point adjustable by adjustive spring at top of sleeve pipe; globe type – for pipe sizes 20 to 50 NB; vane operated – for larger flows in 50 NB or higher pipe sizes; CIMFR certified, CCOE approved. BIS licence (for flameproof level switches) under Gas Group IIA, IIB and IIC (IS2148: 2004); and mercury switch should not be used where vibration is present. Principle of operation: Globe type flow switch – with rise of flow to a particular value, the liquid velocity becomes sufficient to push the disc assembly upward (along with a sleeve). The sleeve, overcoming the pull of the spring, pulls a magnet located outside the sleeve pipe, causing the switch to operate. The switch re-operates when the disc assembly comes down due to fall of flow when spring pulls back the magnet thereby re-operating the switch. In case of Vane operated flow switch, the switch operating principle is same except that a cam mechanism converts the angular movement of the vane (due to liquid flow) to vertical movement of the sleeve.
