Switzer Instrument Limited offers a complete range of level instruments from Delavan, USA. The microwave type is a single point Electronic switch for on/off action. It can be used for level control as well as detection of objects. This sensing probe can "see" through materials windows that are transparent to microwave energy. This makes the microwave type especially useful for application on very aggressive as well as hot products as the sensors do not come into direct contact with the process materials. The principle of operation utilizes non-contact sensing microwave based controls. The transmitter (source) consists basically of a power supply, pulse modulator, Gunn oscillator and directional antenna. The receiver consists of barrier diode detector, a high gain, low noise amplifier, a pulse coding network, a voltage comparator circuit and a relay driver circuit. A very wide range of application covers detection control of liquids or solids in tanks, bins, hoppers or chutes, truck and RR car position, flow/no flow sensing of bulk materials in chutes and conveyors. Extremely successful for use where the environment is too hostile, say furnaces, to permit other conventional types like photoelectric controls, capacitance, etc. This is totally unaffected by dust, smoke, fog or vibration. Provides an excellent alternative to nuclear devices. Microwave types of instruments do not require approval/license for operation.
