Siemens Ltd has launched Automatic Transfer Switching Equipment to ensure continuous power. Back up power sources like generators have become an essential part in electrical installations apart from main power source. When any load is backed up by multiple power sources, a changeover switch is essential for connecting only one power source at a time to the load for the safety and supply of uninterrupted power. The Siemens Betagard Automatic Transfer Switching Equipment (ATSE) ensures safe and automatic transfer of load from the main power source to the back up power and vice versa. Siemens Betagard ATSE, type 5TR has been designed and developed not only for transferring the load to backup power automatically in case of power failure but is also designed to disconnect power to load in case of a short circuit or fire. User friendly and easy to install, conformance to international standard IEC 60947-6 proves its reliability. The most noteworthy feature is that the complete product is prewired and ready to install with the provision of touch proof outgoing terminals. The device is equipped with a visual as well as beep alarm indication. The Betagard ATSE uses miniature circuit breakers, i.e., MCBs from 40 A to 125 A in the form of switching devices and are available for both single phase and three phase power supply systems. There are two types of ATSE: Basic and Advanced; wherein later comes with added display on the front panel for easier settings apart from some superior features such as sending switch On command to generator and receiving a 24V DC input from fire alarm panel. Applications include common area lightning of a residential or commercial complex, elevators, water pumps, emergency lighting, offices, shops, individual apartments and small industrial units.
