Designed to conserve valuable computer floor space, the power Switching & Conversion Systems Automatic Static Transfer Switch (STS)-U protects critical data centre equipment by automatically transferring a load between a primary power source and an alternate power source in the event of interruption or abnormal conditions. The STS-U was developed to be the last source of power to crucial computer loads for ultimate protection against power distribution unit and feeder failures. The unit features the smallest footprint in the industry and conveniently mounts under the computer floor. The series STS-U, which offers an MTBF of more than 250,000 hours, utilizes a unique ?break-before-make? transfer method, which transfers a load without ever connecting two power sources to each other. This eliminates the possibility of damage to either power source and allows for the transfer between two dissimilar power sources a feature far superior to mechanical open-or closed-transition automatic transfer switches. The STS-U also features the high reliability of convection cooling and allows for remote communications and controls via a personal computer. It has manual bypass, open-and shorted-SCR detection, removable logic module without load disturbance and small footprint and underfloor mounting. It also is fitted with comprehensive alarms with optional remote metering, UL-listed for computer room, 25,000 hours MTBF and over voltage and under voltage detection. The switch is used in data and communications centres, hospitals, utilities, industrial plants. Standard features: Automatic/manual transfer control Redundant logic power Convection-cooled Transfer between dissimilar sources of power Automatic retransfer with adjustable time delay
