Retrofit VCB,12 kV

System Control offers 12 kV Retrofit VCB (voltage circuit breaker). In India the installation of switchgear started with ACBs, BOCBs, MOCBs, etc., and these arrangements are in service for more than five decades. This switchgear needs large amount of spares and since last few years the manufacturers have gradually tapered off the production. This resulted in retrofitting of old ACB/BOCB/MOCB switchgear with VCBs, which is the best alternative for the old installations. The main advantage of retrofitting is investment cost of upgrading is minimum besides less down time in the existing plant. The maintenance of conventional circuit breakers, i.e., ACB/BOCB/MOCB requires periodic maintenance like replacement of contacts, replacement of quenching medium such as oil and the spares for operating mechanism. The frequency of maintenance of ACB/BOCB/MOCB is dependent on the number of short circuit operations and the switching applications. The operation and performance of any switchgear is important to minimize the shut down period and this totally depends on maintenance and technology utilised. In switchgear except circuit breaker all other components are stationary. The circuit breaker is only operated as and when required.
