The Polarisation Beam Combiner/Splitter is a compact, high performance, lightwave component that combines two orthogonal polarisation signals into one output fibre. The most common application is to combine the light of two pump lasers into a single fibre to double the pump power to an Erbium-Doped Fibre Amplifier (EDFA) or a Raman Amplifier. The typical configuration uses two PM fibres for the input and the SM fibre for the output. This device is also used as a beam splitter.
Operating bandwidth (nm): ?50; typical insertion loss (dB) - P grade: <0.4; A grade: <0.5; maximum insertion loss (dB): P grade: 0.6; A grade: 0.7; return loss (dB): >55; directivity (dB): >55; operating temperature (?C): -5 to +70 and storing temperature (?C): -40 to +85; etc.
Low insertion loss; low wavelength and temperature; high return loss and high power handling; polarisation MUX/Demur; high power EDFA; optic sensor system; optic transmit system and test and measurement.
