Interface Module

Interface modules, also known as transition modules, field termination assemblies or I/O wiring modules, are devices designed to provide users with an easy means of connecting a cable to a group of individual wires, such as in a field wiring application. These modules have become quite popular in applications where there is no longer enough room in the equipment to use a terminal block, due to wiring density. In these cases customers now mount a high-density connector, such as a D-sub, on their equipment and then use a cable and a module to provide a means for easy field wiring connections. Some examples of this are motion controllers, industrial controllers or PLC?s, all of which may now use this wiring approach. The IMDS module can be equipped with either male (plug) or female (receptacle) D-Sub connectors. These industry standard D-Sub connectors are available 9, 15, 25, 37 and 50 position configurations. The IMRC modules accept industry standard ribbon cable connectors in sizes from 10 to 64 positions. Another unique feature of the IMDS and IMRC modules is the addition of six plated-through component holes per circuit. These holes allow users to easily modify modules by adding electronic components. The interface modules utilize 26-12 AWG terminal blocks that are clearly marked to eliminate wiring errors. The entire interface module assembly is mounted either on a DIN rail or directly to a panel.
