Seagate present second generation drives: the new Cheetah 9LP.with low profile and Cheetah 18 half-height. These provide capacities of 4.5 Gbytes, 9.1 Gbytes and 18.2 Gbytes. The drives provide advanced storage interface technology, Fibre Channel-Arbitrated Loop (FC-AL) and Ultra2 SCSI, including support for low-voltage differential (LVD). Sustained formatted data transfer rates over 21 Mbytes/second provide users with high speed data throughput. They also feature 2.99 msec latency with seek times of 5.2 msec on the low profile or 5.7 msec on the half-height models. These 10,000 RPM drives now have a new design and feature a 25 per cent reduction in power over their predecessors.
