Compact Servo/Amplifier For Fractional Horsepower Needs

Parker Hannifin Corporation, Compumotor Division, has introduced the TQ10X Series brushless servo amplifier/ drive. Providing high performance capabilities in a small, low-cost package, the TQ10X offers a cost-effective solution to brushless servo applications that have fractional horsepower requirements. The TQ10X is compatible with many three phase, brushless motors that utilise hall effect feedback -including Compumotor's SM Series servo motors-as well as most standard brushed DC motors. Combining a torque amplifier (using an industry standard ?10 V analogue input) with a built-in controller (using Compumotor's popular X language command set), the TQ10X provides a compact standalone package for a wide range of OEM application needs. Providing continuous torque to 5 Amps, and peak current to 10 Amps, the TQ10X is equipped with a recirculating PWM amplifier, assuring reduced healing of motor and drive. The unit runs direct from a 95-132 V AC power input. Eight configurable inputs are incorporated for remote sequence select, trigger, home limit, CW/CCW limit and address select; two programmable outputs are available for machine interaction. The new drive/controllcr operates with standard differential, optical encoder for velocity and position feedback. A PID control alogrithm is used for servo tuning. Housed in a rugged steel casing, the TQ10X utilises an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and surface mount technology to minimise the unit's footprint and overall package size. The TQ10X features five diagnostic LEDs that indicate seven different error and status condifions, including Enable, Drive Fault, Motor Fault, Peak Current and Regen; the unit is easily programmed via a simple RS232 serial communications interface. Compumotor has specdaorque curves available, detailing the performance capabilities of the TQ10X drive with the company's SM Series of three phase brushless servo motors.
