Compact Precision Glass Scale Linear Encoder

Acu-Rite precision glass scale linear encoders are designed for use in limited space lathe applications. The small size of Acu-Rite's MicroScale linear encoders (0.482"wide x 0.670"high) allows a scale to be mounted where other products will not fit, such as the cross slide of a lathe. The ability to produce high quality glass scale linear encoder technology in such a compact size, permits end users to put glass scale linear encoders on their machine tools. The manufacturer has developed a line of linear encoders and readouts that are application specific. The result is a readout system with features needed only for the user's application and allows for easy installation. The MicroScale is designed for harsh machine tool environments, where there is increased exposure to coolants and other contaminants. The Viton lipseal protecting the glass scale is known for its chemical resistance and the lipseals are recessed to further deter contamination of the encoder. To protect against attacks by coolants and humidity, the reading head electronics are conformal coated, the head-to-cable interconnects are potted and the connecting wires are encased in a stainless steel armour case. MicroScale encoders are available in measuring lengths from 1"to 60"and with resolutions of one or five microns.
