Masibus Automation & Instrumentation offers a versatile microprocessor based auto/manual station, Model 5004 AM, with a very high performance to price ratio. The instrument is packaged in 96 x 96 mm size with standard cut-out of 92 x 92 mm. Front is sealed membrane type to withstand dusty environment. The programming, calibration and operation of the instrument are by 5 simple keys with two independent displays for process variable and position feedback input. Discrete LEDs display status of digital input, digital output and presently selected mode (auto, manual). The product is made to accept three numbers of 4-20 mA DC input signals, one is for process variable (PV), second is for DCS manipulated variable (MV) signal, and third is for valve position feedback (ZV). The calibration of the unit is done without trim pots. The unit can be calibrated in installed condition itself by front panel keys at any given point, i.e., user need not feed a fixed signal. Scaling facility is provided for PV input from 1999 to 9999 along with decimal point selection. The unit relays the DCS MV signal in case of Auto mode; user set output in case of Manual mode. The change over from auto to manual is always a bumpless transfer. A tracking signal of 0 to 10 V DC, which is a mirror of 4 to 20 mA MV output to the actuator, is available at separate terminals on the back panel. The back panel terminal plate also holding the change over relay is mated to the unit by a plug-in connector. When the terminal plate is unplugged from the unit, the relay de-energises and the DCS MV signal is relayed to the actuator.
