The PCNC 1060 combines the company"s experience in real-time axis control with the wealth of applications available in the PC world, without any degradation of performance in either the CNC or the PC, says the builder. This provides the user with a graphic user interface (GUI) as well as PC-based program development tools. This means that applications formerly developed on an external PC can be integrated in the CNC-applicafions such as diagnostics, tool management, pallet handling and production control. The control"s 500-MB hard disk can store the huge programs needed for high speed machining applications. A PCMCIA connector conforming to PC standards is provided for networking. The PC panel is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of an industrial environment. Its active matrix, colour LCD is both compact and legible, says the builder, and the PC monitor architecture with separate keyboard allows the OEM to install a dedicated keyboard customized to the application running on the PC. The PC panel accepts both OS/2 and Windows 3.11 operating systems. Additional PC extension cards in standard 1/2 ISA format can be added to enhance the basic configuration.
