In electricity, firm contacts are of prime importance. High resistance and invite high heat generation resulting in very high loss of electric energy and finally turns into breakdown of electrical circuit and failure of equipments. The loss of electrical energy is proportional to I2R, which is square of the current multiplied by resistance. Now since the current component cannot be reduced below the continuous current carrying capacity of the equipment for optimum utilization of the system, it is necessary to control the resistance component of the circuit. The current factor is decided by the consumer’s demand over which, the grid engineer has no control, so the control of the resistance component is in the hand for optimum utilization of the system. This is the main principle in designing the clamps and connectors.
