Air Conditioner Energy Saver

Microedge Electronics offers an air conditioner energy saver device. A one tonne air conditioner consumes about 1.5 units per hour and a 1.5 tonne unit about 2.2 units per hour. 10% to 50% of this energy can be saved (based on settings) using the AC energy saver. The thermostat fitted in the air conditioner provides only a crude control of the temperature resulting in overshoot or undershoot of the temperature set, which results in wastage of energy. Further, when the thermostat fails, the A/C works continuously and it is difficult to recognise this failure and take corrective action. This results in wastage of energy. Protections are provided as optional: over voltage trip, overload trip (with MCB) and re-switching delay of 2 minutes to protect the compressor from overloading. The power saved can be anywhere between 0.2 units per hour to about 1.0 unit per hour depending upon the setting chosen. The cost of the AC energy saver can be recovered in a very short time, in some cases less than 6 months depending upon the setting chosen and the cost of electrical energy. The ACES is to be installed between the mains and the A.C. The design is such that it can be easily installed in a matter of minutes. Settings can be altered very easily.
