High voltage insulation testers

Mumbai-based Shanti Electric Instruments manufactures high voltage insulation testers. These are suitable for non-destructive measurement of insulation resistance in electrical systems, machines, transformers and cables. These testers are useful for preventive maintenance in the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. They are used to measure insulation resistance within the electrical equipment of locomotives, trams and ocean going vessels with eight selectable voltages up to 5 kV. The capacitive devices are discharged and drop in voltage is observed and measured. The voltage is 5000 A. Test current is equal to 1 mA at a test voltage 100, 250, 500 and 1000 V. The test leads with heavy-duty insulation are permanently connected. Easy-to-read green LED indicator shows whether the battery has sufficient charge. The specifications are: power supply: 6x1.5 V (eveready no 1050 or equivalent R20); dimensions: 290 mm x 250 mm x 140 mm; weight: 3.4 kg (including batteries). These are used to check test objects for absence of voltage in networks of up to 2 kV AC/DC. The battery-powered SHANTIT 5000 A can be converted into hand-operated SHANTIT 5000 AK by replacing the battery module with a crank generator. This is an improved version of the company"s high voltage insulation testers.
