Rotating Electrical Connectors

Progressive Engineers is the sole distributor of Mercotac Rotating Electrical Connectors in India. Mercotac connectors are highly acceptable because their uniqueness compared to slip rings: totally sealed unit, which is superior in operational capabilities with extremely low distortion level. These rotating connectors have very low contact resistance between rotating and stationary connections. Uses and applications: to provide electrical connectivity and signal transfer from a stationary source to a rotating equipment without distortion, e.g., a) Rotating machines and stationary control panels where power and signal both are transferred without any distortion; and b) Heated sealing rollers – where spark less power transmission takes place and the thermocouple signal to the temperature controller is precisely passed on for accurate temperature indication. This is not possible with conventional slip rings as sparking takes place in transfer of power and distortion due to contact resistance between the thermocouple and the control panel. This does not allow precise temperature measurement and control. Hence the temperature indicated by the temperature controller and the actual temperature on the roller are totally different. Contact resistance of the slip ring is approx 40 times higher than Mercotac connector. Mercotac has coaxial series up to three contacts and modular series up to eight contacts. These connectors are ideal for instrumentation, robotics, thermocouples, cable reels, strain gauges, turntables, testing and control devices, windmills, packaging equipment and heated roller packaging applications. These connectors communicate between rotating PLCs and stationary MMIs without any disturbances and are also suitable for heated roller applications where précised temperature control can be achieved for, e.g., blister pack, lamination rollers, etc. Mercotac rotating electrical connectors are also available for flameproof applications suitable for zone-1, gas group I, IIA and IIB, T6.
