M12 Connector For 10 Gb Ethernet

The Phoenix Contact Group, Blomberg/Bad Pyrmont, and the HARTING Technology Group are pioneering the new generation of M12 connectors for maximum data rates. With combined forces, the two companies are now launching the M12-Cat.6A connector. The compatible products offer users worldwide availability and the security of a market standard. These two leading manufacturers of industrial connection technology combine the expertise of high-frequency signal transmission with industry standard connection technology. Each partner will be responsible for manufacturing and marketing the product range. Thanks to a new M12 generation, it is possible to meet the challenges of higher data rates. The M12-Cat.6A boasts a robust and compact design with high future viability. Compared with previous solutions with four contacts, the new eight-pin connector complies with the Ethernet standard and enables a data transmission rate of up to 10 gigabits per second across a distance of 100 meters. An innovative shielding system, including the shielding of individual data pairs, enables secure data transmission in environments subjected to high electromagnetic stress. Panel feed-throughs, overmoulded cables and connectors that can be assembled as required. This enables device manufacturers and mechanical and plant engineers to integrate these into the IEC PAS 61076-2-109 standardised connectors at an early stage.
