Variable Speed Drive

The variable drive, consists of a driving motor, a variable speed pulley and a reduction gearbox. The variable speed drives are fitted with 3-phase electric motor, operating on 440 V/50 Hz, along with 2 or 3-step gearboxes with the required reduction, to achieve the desired output speeds and maximum torque required.  The casings of the gearbox are of cast iron with thick walls and heavy ribbing to give stability and quiet running. The gears are of case-hardened alloy steel, ground and lapped for quiet running. The gearbox is oil and dust-proof, and shaft is fitted with seals to avoid leakage. The gearbox is filled with necessary oil and grease for lubrication. The integral part of this drive is the variable speed pulley, enclosed in a housing and connected to the gearbox and motor. The variable speed drive consists of 2 pulleys and a wide section variable speed belt, with one side of each pulley moving axially. The pulley on the output side runs on 2 large ball bearings. The output speed is varied by axial displacement of the movable side of the input pulley. Adjustment is permissible only while running. Speed is adjusted by means of a hand wheel on the side of the housing. Remote control and other methods can be provided.
