Variable speed drive system

Asian Powertek Corporation offers variable speed drive system using PS motors and controllers. PS motors are specially designed induction motors. The speed can be controlled steplessly by adjusting the motor terminal voltage. A built in tachogenerator provides the speed feedback signal for closed loop operation. A separate blower is also provided for cooling the motor at low speeds. They are available in standard IEC frames. The PS motor controllers are basically 3-phase AC regulators, which convert the constant mains supply voltage into a step-less variable voltage output for the PS motor. Thus adjusting a potentiometer in the range of 1:10 can control the speed of the PS motor. The tacho feedback signal is used to maintain the speed within 1%. The company offers the complete system, which is highly robust and reliable. It can deliver up to 450% starting torque and is most suitable for frequent inching applications like hoists and cranes. It can provide constant torque or constant HP. The maximum torque limit can also be set to suit the application. Hence it can be used for textile jet dyeing and carding machines, stirrers, conveyers, mixers, machine tools, printing and packing machines, etc.
