High Power Reverse Conducting Thyristor

Silicon Power Electronics introduces 250 Amp 1,200 volts Reverse Conducting Thyristors. These thyristors are designed and manufactured specially for steel plants where high power (imported) inverters are used. The Type RSPS 300 PB is equivalent to Mitsubishi reverse conducting thyristor Type RCR 300 BX, and is being used successfully. This stud type RSPS 300 PB reverse conducting thyristor has an average on-state current of 250 A and average reverse current of 100 A at 85C and a rated repetitive peak off-state voltage of 600 V to 1,200 V, with turn-off time of 30 microseconds or less. It has on-state surge current of 5,000 A with I2t of 1.1 x 105A2s. Other parameters like critical rate of rise of on-state current di/dt and off state voltage are 200 A/s and 300 V/s, respectively. It is to be noted that junction to case thermal resistance for thyristor part is 0.10C/W while that for diode part is 2.20C/W. Recently it has been observed that some public and private companies using imported machines like inverters, DC choppers, speed control systems are having difficulty due to unavailability of similar type of special purpose imported power semiconductors of foreign make due to discontinuation of production. SPE wishes to use its expertise and experience in the power semiconductor field to develop such types of special components, development and manufacturing of three phase non-controlled and full controlled modules, half controlled bridges, reverse conducting thyristors, high reliability and high temperature light weight rectifier diodes for defence, etc, is in compliance to the same.
