MAV Clamping Units


Also known as Locking assemblies, Clamping units are also used as Keyless Bushes to mount products onto shafts, without keys and keyways. Invented in the 1940’s, were primarily used in heavy duty applications like mines & cement plants – the range was gradually increased to cover all applications. MAV SpA of Italy has been in this competitive field for the past 30 years and is a major player in the US, Australian and European market. Manufactures high quality shaft-hub connections encompassing a range from 6 to 600mm (as a standard). Has built up unique expertise in designing and manufacturing clamping units to conform to individual requirements and various types of coatings (for critical environment applications). The MAV Locking Devices meet both the advantage of forced fit system and simplified installation-removal. These bushes are based on the wedge principle: the axial load of the screws generated through the tapers develop a high radial force that locks the hub and shaft using frictional forces. A very wide range of models (ID/OD retained the same, for standardization, in most models) to suit varied lengths of products being mounted, run out characteristics (self-centering and non self-centering) and torque being transmitted. Shrink Discs provide locking between a standard shaft and a hollow shaft – main applications being in the field of gear boxes, speed reducers, etc. These friction elements exploit the pressure in the hollow shaft interface generated by the forces of the conical cones, assembled through the bolts. Permit simple axial and angular hub movement Offer extremely concentric and well balanced connections, ideal for high speed applications. Presented in 3 options – Heavy, medium and light, depending upon torque transmissions. Also available in SPLIT version, Shrink discs provide excellent torque transmission and high resistance to bending.
