Magnetic Couplings

Suresales Corporation offers magnetic couplings manufactured by Gerwah GmbH, developer and manufacturer of technically innovative top-quality drive elements, an answer to application problems posed by conventional mechanical couplings. There is no wear, overload protection through immediate interruption of the magnetic flux: the torque of permanent-magnet synchronous couplings is transmitted contact-free by forced coupling of the permanent magnets. The force is transmitted contact-free over a defined distance between the magnet couples, penetrating all non-magnetic elements. Consequently, Gerwah synchronous clutches are used for pump and vacuum technology applications, where forces are transmitted through a separation wall, making sealing dispensable. If the operational torque is exceeded, the connection is interrupted, while the coupling functions as an abrasion-free safety clutch. Unlike in mechanical safety clutches, rotational speed and disengagement period have no influence on function and service life. Gerwah synchronous couplings are available for torques of max 1000 Nm. This coupling is also available with clockwise-counter clockwise-rotation for special applications. For clockwise rotation, a torque of 15 Nm is possible. For counter clockwise rotation, the load is limited to 5 Nm. In addition to permanent-magnet synchronous couplings, the company also offers abrasion-free hysteresis couplings for special applications. Hysteresis couplings, functioning by combined magnets, do not require any energy input. Even if the selected torque is exceeded, the hysteresis material prevents the torque transmission from being cut off abruptly. Instead, the coupling disengages by sliding smoothly. The company also offers customised designs of synchronous and hysteresis couplings according to customer requirements and as solution to specific problems.
