Flexible Connections For IPBDs

For IPBDs, flexible connections are used for passage of continuous electric current between terminals (busbars) of busducts to panel. They are extremely useful when exact positions of terminations are unknown and hence they compensate for positioning errors during assembly; also when connecting equipments from different manufacturers, where phases can be transposed with different centerlines. Flexible connections possess a high capability in buffering vibration forces. They are effective in preventing loosening of bolts, nuts, screws due to vibration caused by power supplying equipments as well as to absorb moderate shocks due to mechanical causes. Braided copper flexible connections: basically BCFCs are manufactured from high quality braiding, composed of copper wire strands which are available in the range of highly flexible 0.051 mm (47 SWG) to 0.61 mm (23 SWG), which still retains good flexibility at an economical price, confirming to BS: 4109-1970 (C101), in the finish of tinned, untinned or silvered. These wires are woven into concentric sleeves and flattened to make rectangular strips or standard to make a round rope of required cross section. The braidings are terminated at each end into a copper ferrule confirming to BS: 2871 (C101), which are either tin plated or silver plated by our in house plating shop.
