Ultrasonic Velocimeter

The quality of flat products such as foils, films, papers and clothes is determined by an exact adjustment of the velocity of the production process. An ultrasonic velocimeter measures this velocity without contact and without corruption through skid effects. Ultrasonic pulses are directed from this to the measuring object, scattered back from there and then received. If the object is in motion, an additional time shift between consecutive pulse occurs. This time shift is transformed to the desired velocity by means of digital signal processing. The entire measurement is implemented on a signal processor.
