Temperature Indicating Crayons

Thermo Chalks offers Thermeltik range of Temperature Indicating Crayons that are designed to change their physical appearance at a specified temperature. These are a simple, faster way to ascertain surface temperatures during a process. Versatile, non -invasive and handy, these crayons do not need any type of mechanical coupling as associated with instruments or providing new connections for temperature monitoring. A set of three sticks is recommended for use: one rated below the desired surface temperature, other nearest to the desired temperature, and one for temperature higher than that, so that job can be worked within set limits. Mark the work piece when it is hot. If it has attained similar temperature as that of the crayon’s the mark will immediately change from dry powder to liquid droplets. If the job is below the rated temperature of the crayon, either it will not leave any mark on the surface or will leave dry powder (which will turn to liquid as soon as the job temperature rises to crayon’s rating). In case job temperature is too high in relation to crayon’s, the mark will vaporise without melting. Similarly, if extended heating periods are involved or the job has cavities, the mark will get vaporised or get absorbed. It is important to note that any colour change is not to be interpreted as temperature indication. Also, avoid any intermediate melting as indication of desired temperature. Only clear liquid marks indicate the desired temperature. There is no harmful impact on environment by using the crayons. The accuracy is far higher than electronic instruments/thermocouples, and it does not change with time. These are widely used for testing temperatures at a fixed point as well as for determining temperatures of rapidly moving objects (friction generated heat has to be kept minimum). Each crayon comes with an ABS holder and a supporting rod at the back so that the crayon could be used till the last bit. The size is Ø 8.3 mm x 78 mm (L), in a pack of 6 crayons or 10 crayons (assortments too are available).
