Oil Test Set

Sharmasons Sakova Instruments offers Oil Test Set to check the dielectric strength of oil or insulant used in transformers and circuit breakers, etc. To test the dielectric strength of the insulant, a very high voltage is passed through it. A spark shows the failure of the dielectric strength of insulant across two electrodes. The oil test set is designed to carry out this test as per IS: 6792/1972 and IEC-156, and available in various voltage ranges and models. The set comprises the following parts, viz., control panel, HT transformer and oil test cell (with electrodes and gauge), housed in a sheet-metal cabinet, having an acrylic cover for oil test cell compartment. The control panel comprises the following standard equipment: continuously variable auto-transformer (variac) for smooth variation of output voltage, operated manually or by a constant speed synchronous motor, as desired; mains and HT switches, incorporating automatic tripping mechanism for protecting the HT transformer against overloading; voltmeter to monitor output voltage, calibrated in kilovolt; zero start interlocking device, so that the set will not be energised unless the variac is brought back to zero output position; three pilot lamps, green, amber and red for “Mains On”, Variac Min and “HT On” indications; fuse on the LT side, one 3-pin plug with 1.5 mtr long cable for mains connections; and a resin cast or oil cooled HT transformer, compact type, properly designed and treated for perfect tropicalisation. The test cell is made of synthetic polymer and is mechanically tough, transparent and non-absorbent. The cell is complete with adjustable gap electrode arrangement and gauge. The equipment is wired and housed in a highly finished sheet-metal cabinet. A hinged Perspex cover is provided in the unit for covering the HT terminals, with suitable interlocking device. The set will not be energised unless the cover is closed. Overload protection: a fast acting relay senses the primary current of the HT transformer and protects the unit from overload and short circuit. HT cover interlock and zero-start interlock are provided.
