Electronic Digital Micrometers

The 733 Full Function Series electronic digital micrometers have a built-in microprocessor that provides measuring capabilities and operational features. For example, a new "shift" button that activates various functions means that only four keyboard buttons are required. The electronic features include inch/millimetre conversion (except for "millimetre only" models) a measurement "hold" button, zeroing at any spindle location with the ability to retain and return to the true zero reading, a "preset" button for inserting any reading at any point, and the ability to establish maximum and minimum limits on "inch-and-millimetre" models. An output jack provides data transmission to Starrett peripherals such as computer workstations and data collection systems. Data can also be transmitted to other devices that support RS232-C. This new series features an extremely hard and stable one-piece spindle that the company says is the basis for the high accuracy of all the manual and electronic micrometers. Measurement precision is further assured by the use of microlapped carbide measuring faces and a rigid frame that is tapered for access to tight spaces and balanced to promote comfortable, accurate measurements. Other features include a large, high contrast LCD display; conventional graduations on the thimble and sleeve; a ring-type knurled lock nut for locking; a smooth action friction thimble for uniform measuring pressure; a "noglare" black wrinkle finish on the frame; and a "no-glare" satin chrome finish on the thimble and sleeve. Series 733 is comprised of 24 "inch-and-millimeter" models, each with a 1" range, to encompass a total measuring range from 0" through 24". In addition, two "millimeter only" models-up to 600 mm in 25 mm increments are also available on a "by-request "basis. Each series micrometer has an accuracy of ?0.000 1" (?0.003 mm). Accuracies above 1" (25 mm) are as good as setting to a gauge, since the mechanical and electronic components are the same on all ranges. Resolution for models up to 4" (100 mm) is 0.00005" (0.001 mm), while models over 4" (100 mm) have a resolution of 0.0001" (0.001 mm).
