Deep Sea & Waters Measuring System

The Active Sampling and Measuring System (ASMS) developed at the Technical University of Clausthal is a modular, event-controlled water sampling system for scientific investigation of trace metals in the deep sea. Compared with conventional water sampling systems it offers userdefined suction conditions independently of the current and water depth, contamination-free samples and easy handling of the bags. Key components of the system are pressure-compensated, peristaltic pumps driven by stepping motors, hydraulically activated valves, and a distribution system with spindle drive and sampling bags.
